Ade's Diary - January 2024

Ade's Diary - January 2024

After a very hectic December, it was nice to spend the first week of the year focusing completely on relaxing and spending time with family.  I was in Lagos, which is always wonderful, and it was really amazing to be in the warmth.

I didn’t have any New Year’s resolutions this year, but the one productive thing I did during my very chill first week of the year was take was a Goal Setting Course by The Time Freedom Alchemist, she also happens to be my accountant.  It was brilliant, and I came away feeling like I had some concrete tools to help me reach my goals for this year.

After a proper week off during the first week of the month, I hit the ground running from the 8th.  Luckily, I was able to work from Lagos, so still managed to have lots of family time.  It was so sweet to see my son completely at home in the sea and making friends with other children at the beach.

I managed to squeeze in a Nubian Skin photoshoot working with The Styling Duo Studios, and a team of amazing, young, creatives.  I’ve never done a shoot in Nigeria, and I’m so glad I finally made it happen.  I can’t wait to shoot there again.

By week four, I was back in the UK, which luckily had just emerged from below freezing weather.  It was nice to ease my way back into my London routine.  This year is a big one.  I’ll turn 40, Nubian Skin will turn 10, and I’ve got big goals both professionally and personally, so I’m excited for the year ahead. But first, I just need to figure out making my child (who like most children has very strong opinions) a cake with a pink lion, and organising a birthday party with no theme but a pink, purple, peach and orange colour scheme. Along with a minor house renovation…it’s fine really.  I’m absolutely fine.

Wishing you all a healthy and fulfilled 2024!
