At Nubian Skin, we’ve always believed in celebrating your melanin and have provided undergarments in your perfect nude for the last 10 years. After lots of research, talking extensively to our lovely customers, Ade found a common thread to lots of responses, being how much pride each person had in their melanin. We soon realised that our slogan 'a different kind of nude', however much it was still relevant, it was no longer the only way our products made our customers feel. We came up with the slogan 'for the melanin blessed' which just really summed up the experience of wearing something from Nubian Skin, feeling blessed to have melanin.

What’s more, 10% of all profits will go to The Malaika Foundation. Malaika was founded by Noella Coursaris Musunka in 2007, and over the past 17 years has grown into a fully-fledged ecosystem centred around education, healthcare and community programmes. The Malaika School opens its doors to 430 girls each day, providing a free, accredited primary and secondary education, with subjects ranging from STEM and coding to art, music, theatre and sport.
The Malaika Community Center offers life-changing community programmes to 6,000 youth and adults each year, while also providing a safe space away from violence and abuse for community members. Meanwhile, Malaika’s technical programme with the Caterpillar Foundation trains and certifies future electricians and mechanics, their clean water programme caters for over 36,000 people each year through the building and refurbishment of 31 wells and their agriculture programme helps feed two nutritious meals each day to students and staff. Malaika provides these services free of charge.

This year has been one of extreme difficulty across the world, and the stories coming out of the DRC have been particularly challenging. But as we know, black stories are not one dimensional, and there are truly phenomenal things happening in the DRC as well – such as the incredible work of Malaika spearheaded by Noella and her team, and we are proud to support this.
